Marine Superintendent (Ports) – Permanent – Kent – Competitive package

The Marine Superintendent is primarily responsible for ensuring that the delivery of marine services outputs are planned, reviewed and delivered safely and cost effectively to meet operational demands.

Responsibilities include:

  • To be responsible for the vessel and crew
  • To ensure that all crew are up to date with their training requirements and suitably certificated to work onboard
  • To understand, deliver and abide by the requirements of the ISM code
  • To be familiar with all port vessels and be able to operate them as appropriate
  • To monitor and control vessel budgets in conjunction with the technical superintendent
  • To act as Designated Person Ashore
  • To perform investigations into accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences as directed

Experience Required:

  • Hold a valid STCW II/2 Master >500gt near costal license
  • Experience as Master on tugs (preferred)
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a shore based managerial role
  • Experience in the management and audit of processes of a SMS
  • Sound understanding of the ISM code
  • Hold ISM auditor & DPA qualifications (desirable)
  • Excellent leadership and hands on experience in ship management
  • Must have right to live and work in the UK
