Technical Superintendent (Naval Vessels) – Permanent – North East, UK

As Technical Superintendent you will be responsible for a safe, efficient and cost-effective operation, management, maintenance and repair of Company owned and managed vessels. Must provide maximum ship availability within budget, consistent with safe methods of operation.

Responsibilities include:

• You will be responsible for the safe overall management and technical operations of your assigned vessels
• Overseeing the safe daily operations of maintenance and repair, budgeting, survey schedules, on-board general assessment of vessels, inspections and docking, etc
• Ensure the assigned vessels are technically operational or managed accordingly to the management agreement requirement.
• Ensure the proper management of spare parts and deck/engine stores and assist in the control of the vessels’ budgets.
• Liaise with internal and external customers on technical and operational matters including vessel performance etc.
• Attend to vessel dry docking, repairs and survey when required and determine repair specifications for dry docking and maintenance.

Experience Required:

• Ideally an Ex-Warrant Officer/Chief Petty Royal Naval Engineer or RFA
• Experience in a vessel management position is highly desirable
• Dry docking experience is highly desirable
• Must be highly professional, focused and capable of working in an extremely busy department
• Commercial acumen required with technical knowledge
• Experience with MOD contracts is highly desirable
• Strong technical report writing skills
