Head of Technical (LNG) - Permanent - Middle East – Competitive

An internationally renowned organisation with the world's largest fleet of LNG vessels, is recruiting for a Head of Technical to join the team in the Middle East.

Reporting to the Technical Manager, the key responsibility is to assume Technical supervision responsibility of the LNG/LPG fleet and to oversee and monitor overall technical management rendered by third party managers.

Other key duties will include (not limited to);

  • Reviewing all activities of Technical Superintendents, as well as arrange for their training.
  • Reviewing reports received from Technical Superintendent for ship repairs and maintenance, including dry docking documentations, prior to and post every dry-docking period, for directly managed and third party managed ships.
  • Providing expert technical advice on repair and maintenance of vessels and other technical matters as may be required in order to ensure reliable, safe and cost efficient operations
  • Supporting projects related to ship modifications and retrofits.
  • Performing periodic safety and technical audits, as well as vetting of vessels, as part of risk management exercise
  • Assisting SHEQ Manger in development and execution of Integrated Management System for the company.
  • Implementing the Emergency Response Plan under direction of the Company Incident Commander.
  • Participating in developing the Technical department policies, procedures and system, and ensure their proper implementation.

The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of technical operations for Large Gas Carriers and will have managed LNG/LPG refits.

They will also have the ability to compile budgets and exercise controls.

The successful individual will have sailed as a Chief Engineer on LNG vessels and have a Class 1 Marine Engineering Degree (or equivalent). They will also extensive shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent and experience of refits and dry dockings.

To be considered for this role, the individual must have excellent communication skills, have the ability to identify problems and provide effective solutions.

All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications

Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
