Marine Engineering Designer required for an award-winning Superyacht tenders design & builder in the UK.
Due to the company’s ongoing development an Engineering Designer is required to lead project-based design on a range of production, semi-custom and full custom tenders. The role will require an experienced multi-skilled marine designer covering all aspects of small vessel design with specialist support from the rest of the design team.

Role & Responsibilities

• Produce detailed manufacturing 3D models & drawings for in-house, and subcontract, manufacturing teams. Working closely with the manufacturing teams to ensure a design for production mentality is maintained.
• Deliver original design input in the development of vessels, including tooling design, composites design and mechanical mechanisms.
• Working with the Engineering Department to incorporate small boat systems into master 3D models.
• Work on new development projects, investigating new equipment and propose new materials, systems and designs.
• Create and maintain master bill of materials for new build projects
• Capture information on the shop floor to produce as-built drawings.
• As a desirable additional task; carry out structural calculations to ensure suitability of design for purpose particularly for fabricated items with composite structural engineering, both in terms of initial structural analysis and production engineering.

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 4 years’ experience in a marine engineering design role, with BEng / MEng level educational background, plus ideally practical operational or manufacturing experience.
• Knowledge of small power craft construction & design
• Knowledge of the Superyacht industry and the operational requirements of yacht tenders
• The ability to manage multiple projects at any one time, delivering on time and on budget.
• A focused and productive individual with good accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with and support all departments within the company.
• Professional experience of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experienced in 2D, 3D surface and 3D solid modelling design packages including AutoCAD, Rhinoceros and OnShape/Solid Works.
