Job description

Job Description as Machinist with Stork:

Machinists are appointed as competent persons for providing Machining and/or Bolt Tightening services, in accordance with established policies within offshore and onshore sites as instructed per client’s specification. It is their responsibility to ensure that plant and equipment is maintained on a regular and daily basis throughout the workscope duration, being a key member as part of the team to deliver a high standard of work on project completion.

Tasks and Responsibilities as Machinist:

Minimum Task Achievement Requirements

  • Ensuring Machining and/or Bolt Tightening duties are carried out to client / Industry specification and to company operating procedures
  • Selecting suitable equipment to suit application
  • Selecting correct torque and tension values from company provided information
  • Management and completion of Stork work packs
  • Effective assistance and completion (if required) of Stork Flange Management Documentation-iBolt
  • Work unsupervised while using in-situ machining, tensioning and torque wrench equipment
  • Engage and assist with the completion of Company assessments and competency programmes
  • Effectively communicate with the client representative, office engineering team and site teams to ensure all site activities are progressed in a timely manner.

Operatives Commitment to Safety Duties

  • Be actively involved and contribute to completing an onsite Task Based Risk Assessment which identifies additional risks or hazards involved in the workscope prior to work commencing.
  • Ensuring they are working under the correct valid permits and the associated paper work is in place prior to work commencing.
  • Be actively involved in the onsite daily tool box talk confirm that he understands what the workscope involves and be aware if there any changes to the work or worksite, highlighting the potential risks involved with rotating machinery.
  • Ensure all equipment has been fully safety checked, function test of plant equipment prior to use.
  • As a minimum do  not start  work  until satisfied all of the above is in place

Specific Requirements for Machinist:

Training and Experience

Essential

  • Recognised Apprenticeship in an associated discipline
  • Awareness of On-Site Machining Equipment
  • Experience in Offshore Environment

Desirable

  • ECITB TMJI 10, 11, 18,19 & 20

Minimum Training Requirements

  • TMJI or MJI 10 Jointing Pipework using Flanged Joints
  • TMJI or MJI 19 Assembling and Tightening of Bolted Connections using Hydraulic Torquing Equipment
  • Working towards ECITB route to Competency TMJI Task Based assessments

Understanding and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of company Quality/Safety procedures
  • COSHH – Awareness
  • Knowledge of client specification/Manufacturers data sheets
  • Clients permit training
  • Health/Safety and Environmental Risk Assessment – awareness
  • Work at height regulations – awareness
  • Manage skin surveillance
  • HAVS
