Deputy Harbour Master (Ports) – South East – Permanent – Competitive Salary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading port operator as Deputy Harbour Master.

The successful applicant will provide support to the Harbour Master in directing and co-ordinating the provision of a safe, cost effective and efficient service in the Port that meets relevant statutory requirements for safe navigation.

Essential requirements include:

• Hold an STCW II/2 (Masters Unlimited) Certificate of Competency or equivalent, or a lesser STCW/BML Certificate, with relevant experience, or hold a UK national Harbour Master’s Certificate.
• Have at least 5 years relevant management experience in the marine and ports industry.
• A thorough knowledge and understanding of the requirements of the PMSC (and supporting Guide to Good Practice) marine risk assessment techniques and relevant ports and marine legislation.
• Good communication/presentational/interpersonal skills; writing, time management and administrative skills are essential, with an ability to work under pressure and make decisions within agreed delegation of authority.
