Snr Technical Manager (Ferries) – Permanent – Central Belt – Competitive package

This an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK’s largest ferry operators.

Reporting to the Head of Asset Management, the Senior Technical Manager will lead the asset team responsible for managing the fleets major vessel annual overhauls and give support to projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Team lead for the planning and overseeing of Major Vessel Annual Overhauls and supporting Vessel Upgrades and projects associated with the Company’s Vessel Fleet including the maintaining of budgets and procedures as outlined in the Company Management System
• Assist the project team with modifications, upgrades & projects
• Ensuring that the annual overhaul specification is prepared, agreed, costed and that quotations are submitted in the required timelines for approval by the Head of Asset Management
• Act as liaison between the company, contractors, classification society, and flag state on related overhaul works
• Utilise communication and influencing skills to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders
• To support Continual Improvement Process within planning function of Asset Management

Experience Required:

• Preference would be extensive experience in planning and managing vessel annual overhauls and dry dockings.
• A higher sea going engineering qualification or other equivalent or higher engineering or marine engineering-based qualifications is required.
• Experience and knowledge with major ro-ro vessels could be advantageous in conjunction with extensive ship repair experience.
• Demonstrate a high level of competence in all aspects of vessel overhauls/dockings and projects
• Demonstrate experience of specification writing and budget planning.
• Strong leadership skills
• Must have the right to live and work in the UK
