Job Description as Scaffolding Supervisor – (5th Week Cover) with Stork:
A Scaffold Supervisor is responsible, as part of a scaffolding team, for supervising the erecting of scaffolds which are adequate for the purpose they were intended and comply with Stork scaffold procedure / BS12811; ensuring that they are stable and in a safe condition. Also, responsible, again as part of a scaffolding team for supervising the dismantling of scaffolds in a safe manner.
Types of scaffold structures erected include – independent tied scaffold, tower scaffold, birdcage scaffold, suspend scaffold and cantilever scaffold.
Scaffolding Supervisor is responsible for the inspection of the scaffold on completion, and thereafter at weekly intervals, and to verify that the structure has been erected in the correct manner. It is their responsibility to provide work face supervision & ensure that plant and equipment is maintained on a regular and daily basis throughout the work scope duration, being a key member as part of the team to deliver a high standard of work on project completion.
Tasks and Responsibilities as Scaffolding Supervisor – (5th Week Cover):
Minimum Task Achievement Requirements
- Erect & dismantle cantilever drop scaffolds
- Erect & dismantle temporary roof scaffolds
- Erect & dismantle stairway scaffolds
- Erect & dismantle ramp scaffolds
- Erect & dismantle loading bay scaffolds
- Understanding scaffold design criteria
- Ability to compile location information relating to scaffold design requests
- Scaffold inspection – all scaffolds
- Plus all itemised tasks within Scaffolder part 2 & advanced job description
Understanding and Knowledge
- Minimum 3 years as a Scaffolder on the tools experience required
- Previous “supervisory” experience I.e. Charge-Hand etc.

- BS EN 12811-1
Operatives Commitment to Safety Duties
- Be actively involved and contribute to completing an onsite Task Based Risk Assessment which identifies additional risks or hazards involved in the work scope prior to work commencing.
- Ensuring they are working under the correct valid permits and the associated paper work is in place prior to work commencing.
- Be actively involved in the onsite daily tool box talk confirm that he understands what the work scope involves and be aware if there any changes to the work or worksite.
- Ensure Working at Height regulations are adhered to when applicable.
- Ensure all equipment has been fully safety checked, function test of plant equipment prior to use.
- As a minimum does not start work until satisfied all of the above is in place.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- Registration card or equivalent NVQ and relevant CITB (level 3)
- Motivated Team Member
- Good Housekeeping Standards
- Good Hazard Identification Skills
Desirable
- 5 years Scaffold erect/dismantle experience in an Offshore/Onshore Environment
- 3 years Scaffold supervisory experience
- Knowledge of BS EN 12811
- Completed computer based training course on clients permit systems
