Technical Specialist (Classification Society) - Permanent – Southampton, UK – Competitive
A leading Classification Society is currently recruiting for a Technical Specialist to join the team in the Southampton office.
Working with the Marine & Offshore Systems Support team, this individual will provide a high level of specialist support to meet business needs.
Key responsibilities will include;
- Providing technical specialist support/advice on behalf of the team to internal/external customers.
- Discussing and presenting basic reports to a technical audience and be able to suggest alternative solutions to satisfy technical standards, as necessary.
- Managing the team mailbox and deal with queries from internal and external users.
- Responding to queries in a timely manner.
- Running queries in the database to solve any problems that may arise.
- Conducting activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards
The successful candidate will have a proven track-record in a similar role within the Maritime and/or Oil & Gas industries. A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant Maritime subject is essential.
You will also have an understanding of marine classification, technical performance and fleet quality management processes.
The ideal individual will have excellent organisational skills and excel working autonomously in a busy environment.

Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.
Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
Certificates and Qualifications
Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
Please sign up for STCW courses and obtain the certificates if you don't have them yet.
