This is an excellent opportunity to join an international shipping company covering their London operation.

Working closely not only with the Port Manager but also crews and operational staff as well as external stakeholders in demonstrating your business acumen.

Responsibilities include:

• Your role will be to assist the operation and the wider management team in the provision of marine operational expertise, ensuring all vessels and crew meet their safety, environmental and operational requirements.
• Supporting the Port Managers with strategy ensuring the successful management of the port and building strong relationships with external and internal stakeholder e.g. customers, agencies, port authorities and functional teams.
• To assist in the management of the marine operations ensuring that obligations for availability of expertise, equipment and personnel are met at all times in order to maintain customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
• To assist in the management of the certification process with regard to vessel class and issues regarding the various Classification Societies and the MCA UK.
• To provide operational support to port management team and crew in order to maintain efficient towage operations.
• Work with the Technical team to ensure safe and effective transfer of vessels between ports and associated familiarisation of personnel to vessels.
• Assist in the maintenance of the Quality and Safety Management System.

Experience Required:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to use MS office as well as internal systems.
• A clear understanding of certification and document control with regards to vessel operations
• Familiarity with Maritime Rules, Regulations, Codes and Guidelines; ISM Code and ISPS requirement’s and class preferred
• Shore side marine experience preferred, particularly with regard to regulations and legislation, including knowledge of Manila amendments
• Some shore commercial experience would be beneficial
• UK driving licence required
