Head of Marine Operations (Passenger) – Permanent – London – £50k – £55k plus bonus & benefits

This is an excellent opportunity to head up a small marine department based in the centre of London.

Responsibilities include:

• Be the designated person ashore (DPA)
• Manage the captains and the crew; ensure they maintain their BML and have attended statutory training requirement as necessary
• Have oversight of vessel, barge and mooring maintenance
• Ensure compliance with all marine legal requirements for the vessels, barges, mooring and offices including compliance with the Domestic Safety Management (DSM) code
• Ensure compliance with marine regulatory bodies such as the MCA and PLA
• Ensure full compliant delivery and performance of contracted services as measured through performance management systems and monthly management information reports
• Oversee; crewing, people management, vessel maintenance, training, HSEQ & Compliance

Experience Required:

• Experience of working successfully with accrediting and regulatory bodies
• Sound knowledge and experience in the marine industry with extensive previous sea going experience
• Local knowledge of sailing on the river Thames in London is highly desirable
• Hold Boat Master License (BML) preferred
• Passenger ship / Ferry experience is desirable
• Good knowledge of maritime regulations and marine industry standards & HSEQ practices
• Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks
• Must have right to live and work in the UK
