Job Description as Technical Inspection Manager with Stork:

To provide management, support, direction and leadership and delivery assurance to the Technical Inspection function. This role acts as the focal point for client project specifications, progression and final commission. Ensures all operations in their area of authority are completed in line with legislation, industry standards and Company procedure.

All employees may be required to undertake differing or additional tasks to those detailed within this job description, on the proviso that they are within the reasonable skills, experience and knowledge of the employee.

Tasks and Responsibilities as Technical Inspection Manager:

Overall responsibility for Technical delivery to projects.
Confers with Technical team resources, internal departments and client personnel to discuss project specifications and procedures.
Responsible for the allocation of technical resource to ‘best-fit’ project tasks.
Interacts with operational teams on personnel support for technical requirements.
Interacts with client in regard to specification change and scope.
Responsible for delivering technical projects within agreed cost and specification.
Assists in the preparation of project costs and bids.
Responsible for client integration and communications that allow for additional project tendering and prospecting.

Responsible for NDT department’s technical ability

Plans and directs the NDT Technical Authorities to ensure technical delivery.
Responsible for creation, maintenance and implementation of NDT Procedures.
Responsible for qualifying new and existing NDT techniques/methods.
Responsible for NDT Training / Competency requirements.
Responsible for a range of regulatory documentation and certification.
Supports Operational and Product Line Project Managers technically with ongoing projects.

Grows the skills and potential of departmental technical resources

Allocates tasks to individual departmental technical resources that stretch, stimulate and develop NDT skills, experience and expertise.
Develops and implements policies, standards and procedures for the NDT team.
Supports appropriate professional learning and development via Training and Competency.
Supports the organisation’s appraisal methodologies (P&D) to embed professional development and encourage employee retention.
Employees feel challenged and motivated through engagement with cutting edge projects.

Technical

Ensure knowledge levels are maintained with current legislations and governing bodies.
Provide technical input and assurance for work packs, risk assessment, investigations, management of change reviews and project reviews.
Provide specialist technical support to both onshore, offshore contracts.
Interfacing with regulatory and independent verification bodies and participate in industry initiatives as required.
Representative for external technical forums / memberships
Leads the NDT & Inspection requirements for UKAS Type C accreditation expectations.

Documentation

To review and update processes and procedures applicable to their area of authority.
To create, review and update all processes and procedures.
Maintain a working knowledge of all code, standards and regulations.
Retain accurate records of work undertaken.
Assist in any tenders and audits.
Ensure all documentation prior and during contract delivery is acceptable, maintained and recorded within the correct systems.

Education

  • Degree / Certificates in appropriate discipline (s).

Experience

  • Level 3 qualification in NDT PCN/ASNT techniques
  • 17020 Awareness Course
  • Extensive knowledge in discipline
  • Ability to effectively work on own initiative
  • Operate under pressure and co-ordinate multiple priorities
  • Computer literacy and conversant in Microsoft Software Packages
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with an ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to forward plan and be receptive/adaptable to change.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • A clear and concise commitment to providing quality service delivery standards, responsive to business demands.

HSEQ

  • Fully knowledgeable of the legislative requirements surrounding HSEQ aspects pertaining to their area of responsibility.
  • Assist with adherence to all risk management processes.
  • Support continuous improvements, record and act on lessons learned.
  • Provide administrative assistance for the completeness of HSEQ related data, such as, REACH scorecards, HAVS, TOFS feedback and health surveillance documents.
