Assistant Technical Superintendent (Ferries) - Glasgow - Permanent - Excellent Package

A leading Ship Owner based in Glasgow is currently recruiting for an Assistant Technical Superintendent to join the busy team.

Reporting to the Senior Technical Superintendent, the Assistant Technical Superintendent is expected to provide comprehensive technical management in support of the Small Craft Fleet which do not carry motormen. This role will cover support of the day to day operation and the annual overhauls for this class of vessel. 

Other responsibilities will include;

  • Working closely with the vessels to verify that the routine and unplanned maintenance is recorded effectively, and any outstanding items are followed up
  • Sharing relevant information on technical issues with other affected vessels within the fleet with a view of identifying common issues, trends and adopting preventative maintenance action
  • Liaising with the HSQE department to effectively respond to the vessel’s management meetings including on technical issues raised via Safety Committee Meeting Minutes
  • Supporting the continual improvement process/betterment within the planning function of asset management
  • Ensuring all necessary documentation and equipment required for relevant vessels are maintained and comply with relevant legislation

The successful candidate will have sailed, as a minimum, as a 3rd Engineer on RoRo ferries and have shore-based experience in a similar capacity.

The ideal candidate will have good initiative skills; ability to get started and work independently when necessary, have strong work and environmental ethics and eagerness to develop solutions to problems.

All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications

Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
