Support Engineers (Ferries) - Glasgow – Permanent - Excellent Package

A leading Ship Owner and Operator based near Glasgow is currently recruiting for Support Engineers to join the busy team.

The Engineers’ role is to provide technical support and conduct the maintenance and repair of all the company equipment, ashore and afloat.

Working with the Assistant Technical Superintendent to maintain the vessels, this role will also be operating as shore-based technical support for the day to day operation, assisting the vessels with planned and preventative maintenance and supporting breakdowns where appropriate.

Other responsibilities will include;

  • Carrying out operational checks on the vessels equipment, report and rectify issues if possible.
  • Alongside the Assistant Technical Superintendent, assisting with annual overhauls of these vessels.
  • Regularly inspecting vessels machinery and investigating any issues with the onboard equipment.
  • Carrying out in service maintenance of diesel engines and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Complying with and promoting safety rules and procedures and updating Risk Assessments and ensuring understanding amongst staff.
  • Ensuring the team is always compliant with environmental legislation, taking advice from the HSQE team, as necessary.

The successful candidate will have experience in maintenance and repairs of marine associated machinery and small vessel support engineering.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of competence in all aspects of small craft vessel overhauls, docking and projects and demonstrate considerable experience or knowledge of diesel engines such as MTU, Cummings, Volvo and Perkins.

In addition, the successful candidate will have basic competency of electrical and welding skills.

You will also have excellent initiative skills, have the ability to work independently and be adaptable when dealing with change and unstructured environments.

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications
