Technical Superintendent (Dredgers) – Permanent – Hampshire – Competitive package

The overall purpose of this role is to oversee the technical operation of assigned ships.

Responsibilities include:

• To ensure vessels are operated and maintained in accordance with applicable maritime regulations and requirements
• Ensure ships are operated to meet budget and performance standards
• Organise vessel dry dock and repair programmes
• Evaluate spares and stores requisitions, authorise purchases and monitor expenditure, ensuring costs are controlled within budget levels.
• Conduct assigned vessel inspections as per the SMS, ascertaining conditions, ensuring correct work procedures are adhered to
• Ensure senior officers are familiar with their responsibilities and the ship’s systems, routines and procedures and maintain control of Masters and Chief Engineers with regard to technical matters.
• Prepare and participate in the annual budget process, preparing estimates and vessel upgrade proposals

Experience Required:

• Hold a Class 2 Unlimited licence / Chief Engineer Unlimited preferred
• Previous experience in a marine technical department, basic finance and budgets is desirable
• Experience sailing on / managing small craft preferred (Workboat / Dredger etc)
• Good interpersonal, planning and organisational skills, ability to engage and interact with people at all levels and ability to develop creative and effective solutions to problems.
• Good command of the English language (Written & Spoken)
• Must have the right to live and work in the UK
