Job description

A Core Basic Scaffolder/Deck Operative is responsible, as part of a scaffolding team, for erecting scaffolds which are adequate for the purpose they were intended and comply with EN12811-1; ensuring that stable and in a safe condition. Responsible, again as part of a scaffolding team for dismantling scaffolds in a safe manner. Types of scaffold structures erected include – independent tied scaffold, tower scaffold, birdcage scaffold, suspend scaffold and cantilever scaffold. It is their responsibility to ensure that plant and equipment is maintained on a regular and daily basis throughout the workscope duration, being a key member as part of the team to deliver a high standard of work on project completion.

As a member of the Asset Core Crew there may be a requirement for a Core Basic Scaffolder/Deck Operative to fulfil additional asset duties; these duties will be indentified and agreed with Chrysaor Offshore and Stork Onshore Management.

These duties may include the following:
 – Supply Boat operations.
 – Helicopter operations
 – ERT Members
 – Banksman / Slinging duties
 – Container / Material movement
 – General Deck duties

Scaffolding

Erection and Dismantling of Scaffolding Structures including:
Scaffold tower
Independent scaffold
Birdcage scaffold
Hanging and cantilever scaffolds

Stork Scaffolding Procedure including Stork Scaffold Design Criteria and associated processes and forms

Relevant British Standards including:

BS EN 12811-1:2003 – Temporary works equipment. Scaffolds. Performance requirements and general design
TG20:13 – Technical Guidance on the use of BS EN12811-1
BS 2482: 2009 – Specification for Timber Scaffold Boards.
BS EN 39: 2001 – Loose Steel Tubes for Tube & Coupler Scaffolds.

Deck Operations

To support the asset Core Deck Crew when required duties will vary between assets but may include:
Banksman Slinging
Supply Boat Operations
Container/Material Movement
Helicopter Operations
General Deck Duties

Knowledge and Implementation of:
Chrysaor Lifting Procedure and LOLER Regulations

HSEQ Policies and Procedures

Knowledge and Implementation of:

REACH
Chrysaor Aspire and Lifesaver Rules
Accident Incident Reporting
Risk Assessment and Hazard Observation 
Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) Surveillance
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER)

 

Job requirements

Technical Competencies Required:

Deemed Competent in the Following Stork Standards:

Generic Safety
Scaffolding
Deck Operations or Stork and Chrysaor approved equivalent (if carrying out deck operations)
Helideck Operations or Stork and Chrysaor approved equivalent (if carrying out Helideck duties)

Essential Skills Knowledge & Experience:

Relevant Scaffolding Experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
Relevant Deck Operations Experience in an Offshore Environment
Knowledge of Stork Scaffolding Procedures and relevant British Standards
Knowledge of Chrysaor Lifting Procedure and LOLER Regulations
Knowledge of Stork and Chrysaor HSEQ Policies and Procedures
Communication Skills (both written and oral)
