Summary of Role

• To complete major and specialized mechanical overhaul on marine engines and related marine equipment
• To carry out PPM for plant, equipment and vehicles.
• Assisting welders and mechanical fitters as required

Key Accountabilities/ Competencies

• Perform mechanical services for engines and related marine equipment
• Operate and maintain Plant, Equipment and Vehicles
• Maintain Health, Safety and Security of Site
• Ensuring Site Is Compliant with Current Legislation
• Ensuring Site Is Compliant with Environmental Legislation
• Able to complete pre and post docking surveys

Perform mechanical services for engines and related marine equipment:

• Undertake disconnection, removing and installation of Marine Mechanical Equipment
• Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on marine and related marine equipment including propulsion, ancillary equipment and pipe system using schematic charts and technical manuals.
• Repairing Marine Mechanical Components
• Repairing and maintenance on Marine Mechanical Control, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Systems and Equipment.
• Carrying out maintenance and repair on Marine Steering gears, control systems and equipment.
• Test mechanical equipment and machineries to determine need for repair or adjustment
• Carry out non-destructive tests
• Complete and submit reports and information in a timely manner

Operate and Maintain Plant, Equipment and Vehicles

• To carry out daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment and complete maintenance and safety checklist forms
• Complete the planned preventative maintenance programmes (PPM) to timely and high standard
• To ensure that all equipment is operated as per Manufacturers Manual before use
• To adjust and install alternative component parts and to keep the site functioning to avoid potential interruption or reduced efficiency of service
• To attend breakdowns and provide technical support alongside maintenance staff

Requirements

• Diploma in Marine Construction, Mechanical Installation, System Engineering and Maintenance or Certificate of Technical Competence – Mechanical Engineering
• Full Driving Licence
• Previous experience in the marine repair industry
• Operate workshop equipment (turning, drilling, CNC, welding)
