Deputy Harbour Master – London – Permanent – Competitive package

Exciting opportunity to join one of the UK’s largest ports in the marine department as Deputy Harbour Master.

Reporting to the Harbour Master, on the planning and operational management of the marine department, together with the Duty Harbour Master(s) and all contract staff.

You will be responsible for supervising the safe movement and berthing of all vessels within the port, reacting to and directing a prompt response to all marine incidents and instigating an appropriate investigation.

Suitable candidates will have:

• Previous port management experience.
• Minimum qualifications to; Master (NC) 11/2 CoC; or Chief Officer (unlimited) 11/2 CoC; or equivalent MOD (Navy) qualifications, or UKHMA recognised Harbour Master qualification.
• ML5, MCA medical certificate.

The position is very hands-on, requiring the post holder to be capable of multi-tasking and to become involved in all aspects of the department’s routines and responsibilities.
