Job Description Plant Inspector with Stork:

Onshore inspection focal point for asset with responsibility for day-to-day interface with inspection and the wider Integrity Engineering function.

Tasks And Responsibilities As Plant Inspector:

Contract Delivery

  • Plan and carry out pre-surveys of equipment and where necessary identify preparation for inspection and Non Destructive Examination (NDE) requirements.
  • Carry out Inspection of plant and pipework within the limitations of the Storks issued Letter of Authority (LoA) in compliance with the Written Scheme of Examination or equivalent as well as Stork and client procedures.
  • Interface with NDT team to provide clarification on NDT inspection techniques in order to meet integrity objectives.
  • Review inspection reports, isometrics, vessel general arrangements and P&ID drawings.
  • Manage and report on the status of all in progress inspection, integrity and corrosion monitoring activities on the installation.
  • Liaise with planning personnel to maximise opportunistic inspection of vessels, plant and equipment at the request of the client.
  • Give technical advice in order to ensure ad-hoc inspections are completed and integrity of units are fully assessed.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of innovative NDT techniques.
  • Maintain assurance of UKAS accredited NDT techniques and any knowledge of integrity threats.
  • Support NDT personnel and other inspection, integrity and corrosion sponsored contractors in the prioritisation and planning of work.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Create workpacks including donating relevant NDT techniques to meet integrity objectives.
  • Carryout detailed scoping activities, WSE creation/review /approval/ anomaly reporting and inspection reporting
  • Give input to periodical audits of NDT Inspection to ensure compliance to procedures.

HSEQ

  • Contribute to Stork HSEQ-policies.
  • Ensure robust processes of work management and assurance are in place across their Product Line(s) and that each key account manager has an understanding of the business risk involved in non-compliance with these processes.
  • Ensure HSEQ-policies for service delivery business activities are in line with legal requirements, recommendations of Stork and client requirements.
  • Ensure all HSEQ-policies and regulations within Service Delivery are maintained and regularly reviewed.
  • Ensure that all business in conducted in compliance with Stork legal, legal and CSR policies and standards.
  • Promote a strong HSE culture at all times – A proactive approach to safety on site.

People Management

  • Establish and monitor project team working methods.
  • Carry out briefings/Tool Box Talks to all Inspection/ NDT Personnel
  • Ensure that the personnel selected for the scope of work are trained, qualified and competent to carry out the task.
  • To advise projects on the training and competence assurance of the job.
  • To support the company to recruit and development of a suitable and competent workforce.
  • Attend pre-project briefs

Specific Requirements For Plant Inspector:

Education – Essential

ASME Level 2 Plant Inspector or API 570/510
Fitness for purpose Experience API 579
HNC/HND qualified in an appropriate Engineering Discipline
Site Safety Passport
Professional Membership / Engineering Council status
Experience of ‘in-service’ plant inspection and NDT
Ability to work without supervision

Experience – Essential

Experience in inspection in a relevant process industry with the majority of the above experience elements
Ability to read and interpret commonly used engineering drawings and data sets used in support of inspection activities
Detailed knowledge of the uses and limitations of commonly applied non-destructive examination techniques applied in support
Working knowledge of the use and limitations of specialist NDE techniques
Clear understanding of major discipline issues arising from oil and gas production systems
Awareness of materials and key degradation mechanisms associated with the deterioration of offshore production facilities
Awareness of piping and vessel design codes
Assess defects or anomalies found
Understanding of PSSR regulations
Develop or update Written Schemes of Examination or equivalent as part of inspection preparations as required
Proven ability to work without supervision and to provide effective supervision to others
Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within offshore organisation

Experience – Desirable

Experience as an Plant Inspection Engineer/Inspection Engineer with an Oil or Petro-Chemical Background
Familiar with typical design codes and standards for offshore pressure systems and the application and use in fitness for service assessments
Working knowledge of key legislation and regulatory framework applicable to offshore regime with understanding of major accident hazards, performance standards, assurance and verification activities
Awareness of paint coat specifications and associated applications
Familiar with typical corrosion monitoring equipment and associated practices and procedures for retrieval Capable of performing download of Data Collection Units
Competent in maintenance management database systems

Professional / Personal Competence

Significant responsibility and autonomy – can oversee the work of others.
Degree Qualified
Category 2 as defined by UKAS RG2 logbook or equivalent
Able to provide supervision for the technology used and processes required for the delivery of the integrity services
Able to provide supervision for the processes and the operation of the equipment and /or systems that are area of responsibility for delivery of integrity services
Able to provide supervision for any defects which may occur during the use of the equipment which may result in a failure or deficiencies in the operation of the equipment
Able to provide supervision for the significance of deviations found with regarding to the normal use of the equipment, the operation of the processes
Knowledgeable of the practical considerations of Standard NDT Techniques.
Project management of discreet work scopes
Provision of technical assurance including the following:
Participation in PEER reviews and audits
Technical Support for work scopes
Appropriate checking and approval process of technical documentation
