Naval Architect (Marine) – Hampshire – Permanent – £30,000-£35,000

Our client is looking for an experienced Small Boat Designer/ Naval Architect. They offer services in Marine Surveying, Vessel Stability, Ship and Boat Design, Project Management, Supervision of Ship Building, Repair, Conversion and Life Extension Programs.

Responsibilities;

  • Design and prepare complete and accurate working plans, charts, scale drawings and revisions.
  • Function as a project engineer, design and oversee the design for various vessels from 10 – 50m.
  • Apply engineering drafting methods and procedures with the operation and application of computer-aided design equipment (CAD) and software.
  • Design parts or marine systems compliant with relevant applicable classification society rules, flag authority codes and standard industry practices.
  • Perform naval architecture calculations, e.g. stability/hydrostatic, weight distribution, etc.
  • Production of 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Conduct analytical, environmental, operation or performance studies in order to develop vessel designs, equipment and structures.
  • Create concept level, preliminary design level, detail design level, and production level drawings, calculations, analyses and technical reports.

Qualifications;

  • The ideal candidate must possess a degree in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering with knowledge in vessel design development, structural design, and auxiliary systems design for vessels such as passenger craft, patrol boats, work boats, tugs, and barges.
  • Excellent communication skills are a must in addition to familiarity with IACS, SOLAS, IMO and other applicable regulations.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks, Paramarine, Rhino software is a plus.
  • The ability to multitask and work within a fast-paced environment is imperative.
