Senior Marine Engineer

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Senior Marine Engineer to be based in Aberdeen.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Provide operational and maintenance support to the operating units in terms of marine systems such as:
  • Mooring, cargo, ballast etc, offload systems, cranes, fixed and portable lifting equipment, navigation/radio equipment, helideck/helifuel systems
• Support in above systems with respect to Class/Statutory and other regulatory requirements
• Manage vendor support for above systems
• Provide support for development, review and approval for marine operational procedures, standards etc
• Actively contribute with technical and advisory support to Technical Authorities
• Carry out offshore visits as required
• Carry out technical/marine assurance activities as required on vessels
• Assist in development of annual budget
• Support in incident investigations
• Prepare and review of workpacks as required
• Review the Shutdown/Breakdown and Synergi reports and participate in Root Cause Analysis as required
• Update Lesson Learned Register based on shutdown/breakdown, survey/audit reports
• Interface with Class and Flag on coordination/reporting/certification as required

In order to be considered for this post you must have a system level design understanding of marine systems and experience providing detailed engineering solutions in this area. This involves strong marine engineering understanding on a marine equipment level, multi-discipline understanding of how the marine systems operate on system level, and experience to be able to direct modifications on these systems as far as instrumentation functionality, P&ID design, equipment selection, and hydraulic design (including sizing of pumps).

Experience addressing challenges raised by an FPSO operations team, class society, or regulators, and knowing how to investigate marine systems on an equipment and system level to be able to provide satisfactory feedback, or proposals for modification.
