Design Engineer

Design Engineer – Devon – Permanent – £30-£35k

Our client is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team in Devon. They design and manufacture world class leisure RIBs, engineering the best handling hulls in the market and are inspired to build boats that are safe, dry and deliver for whatever their purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ability to take an initial design brief through to final product and produce manufacturing drawings of a high quality
• Ability to generate design solutions to meet technical specifications under the direction of a senior design engineer
• Work with the Sales Team to generate technical output for specific projects
• Ensuring all design activity is carried out to company procedures or overriding customer requirements and to best engineering practices
• Carry out other tasks as required in support of company strategy as directed by senior engineers

Personal Requirements:

• A solid design engineering background with a strong understanding of marine engineering and naval architecture
• Minimum 3 years design engineering experience
• Good understanding of Rhino 3D – modelling, draughting and design office procedures
• Knowledge of composite materials and a good understanding of small boat systems
• Ability to provide design led input to engineering review meetings
• A good understanding of costing budget within design
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• A good team player with a flexible attitude to workload
• Be able to work at a fast pace on multiple tasks
• Ability to be a ‘hands on’ engineer
