Chief Engineer – Research Vessel – £54k+

A leading scientific research company are currently looking for a Chief Engineer to join their team helping to support the UK’s world-wide oceanographic research program.

This is a permanent position working in the UK and Internationally.

For this position, it is essential that you hold the following:

  • Certificate of Competency Chief Engineer III/2 (no restriction – motorships) (UK COC/CEC)
  • Seafarer Medical Certificate (ENG1) without restrictions
  • Four elements of basic training to STCW
  • STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats
  • STCW Advanced Fire Fighting
  • Proficiency in Designated Security Duties
  • Valid Passport and Discharge Book
  • High Voltage Management Level

Desirable qualifications are;

  • Ship Safety Officer certificate

In return for your talents, our client offer a competitive remuneration package, including a pension scheme. You will accrue 25 days of leave per month worked on board and tours of duty normally two months or two scientific cruises in length. Opportunities for further training and development are supported.
