Job Description Scaffolder with Stork:

A basic Scaffolder is responsible, as part of a scaffolding team, for erecting scaffolds which are adequate for the purpose they were intended and comply with Stork scaffold procedure / TG20:13; ensuring that stable and in a safe condition.

Also responsible, again as part of a scaffolding team for dismantling scaffolds in a safe manner.
Types of scaffold structures erected include – independent tied scaffold, tower scaffold, birdcage scaffold, suspend scaffold and cantilever scaffold. It is their responsibility to ensure that plant and equipment is maintained on a regular and daily basis throughout the workscope duration, being a key member as part of the team to deliver a high standard of work on project completion.

Tasks And Responsibilities As Scaffolder:

  • Minimum Task Achievement Requirements
  • Erect & dismantle scaffold tower scaffolds
  • Erect & dismantle independent scaffold
  • Erect & dismantle birdcage scaffold scaffolds
  • Erect & dismantle hanging and cantilever scaffolds
  • Erect & dismantle loading bay scaffolds
  • Erect & dismantle truss out scaffolds
  • Erect & dismantle scaffolds with pre-fabricated beams
  • Erect & dismantle roof edge protection scaffolds
  • Plus all itemised tasks within trainee Scaffolder part 1 job description
  • Scaffold inspection limited to:- independent, bird cage, tower, cantilever, pre-fabricated beams, fans, edge protection, minor alterations & barriers/rails

Operatives Commitment To Safet Duties

  • Be actively involved and contribute to completing an onsite Task Based Risk Assessment which identifies additional risks or hazards involved in the workscope prior to work commencing.
  • Ensuring they are working under the correct valid permits and the associated paper work is in place prior to work commencing.
  • Be actively involved in the onsite daily tool box talk confirm that he understands what the workscope involves and be aware if there any changes to the work or worksite.
  • Ensure all equipment has been fully safety checked, function test of plant equipment prior to use.
  • As a minimum do not start work until satisfied all of the above is in place
  • If in doubt ask my Supervisor

Skills, Understanding and Knowledge

Essential

  • Core 2 years’ experience in a similar role within the relevant sector
  • Trade Skills Screening
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Motivated Team Member
  • Good Housekeeping Standards
  • Good Hazard Identification Skills

Desirable

  • System scaffold training

Core Training Requirements

  • BOSIET/FOET
  • MIST
  • Stork Core HSEQ Training
  • CISRS Basic Scaffold Card (Or approved alternative)
  • Working at Height User (Level 2)
  • Working at Height Rescue (Level 3)

Optional

  • If Rope Access level 1 or 2 then must have:
  • IRATA Rope Access Level 1
  • Experience on ropes within the last 6 months (evidence – IRATA log book)
  • If Rope Access level 3 then must have:
  • Level 1 & 2 requirements
  • Task Based Risk Assessment
  • Approved First Aid
  • Portable anchor awareness (eg – Iron Wing Awareness)
