Mobile Marine Engineer

Mobile Marine Engineer – Southampton – Permanent – Up to £32k

Our client is looking for a marine engineer based at their Head Office in Southampton. The position calls for someone who has a good engineering background, wants to be afloat and is good with people.

Job description:

• Attend breakdowns by land or sea, safety conscious and can work within companies operating procedures.
• Manage breakdowns and co-ordinate with agents in and out of office hours.
• Participate in the maintenance, repair and re-fit of company vessels and vehicles. Ensure they are in a safe condition and ready for service.
• Carry out service, maintenance and repair work to member and non-members vessels to a high standard.
• Occasional visits abroad depending on operational requirements.
• Attend PR activities and assist with joining up of new members.

Essential experience

• Full clean UK driving licence. Towing endorsement preferable but not essential.
• Ideal candidate should have an RYA advanced Power Boat certificate commercially endorsed, however candidates possessing suitable experience or RYA level 2 powerboat certificate or higher will be considered.
• A willingness to learn and adapt to company procedures is essential.
• A proficient understanding of Marine electrical systems.
• A proficient understanding of Inboard & outboard engines and ability to repair and diagnose.

Employment conditions

• It will be necessary to work shifts which will include, pre-determined periods on-call being ready to work outside of normal hours including evenings, night time and weekends.
• Due to the nature of being on-call the candidate will need to local to the Hamble area in order to respond efficiently to out of hour call outs.
• Salary Starting from £24,000-£32,000 based on experience and job bonus of £10 per job
