Job Description Rope Access Blaster/Sprayer Category 2 with Chartek with Stork:

Blasters/Sprayer Category 2’s are appointed as competent persons responsible for surface preparation and coating applications at various offshore and onshore sites as instructed per client’s specification. Part of their duties is to ensure that plant and equipment is maintained on a regular and daily basis throughout the workscope duration, being a key member of a team to deliver a high standard of work on project completion.

An individual who is self-motivated and able to work with the minimum of supervision being 100% committed to team involvement, information sharing and mutual support. Work with a heightened awareness of HSEQ. Further requirements are pride in their own work, have the ability to over come problems and deliver solutions that may occur when carrying out a task.

Tasks And Responsibilities As Rope Access Blaster/Sprayer Category 2 with Chartek

Minimum Task Achievement Requirements

  • Contribute to health, safety and environmental quality
  • Set up & test all relevant plant and equipment
  • Protect adjacent surfaces & the environment
  • Operate compressor equipment & other such equipment
  • Degrease & prepare surfaces using power tools
  • Degrease & prepare surfaces using abrasive blasting methods
  • Carry out required quality control checks
  • Apply coatings with brush & roller
  • Apply coatings with paint spray units

Operatives Commitment To Safety Duties
 

  • Be actively involved and contribute to completing an onsite Task Based Risk Assessment which identifies additional risks or hazards involved in the workscope prior to work commencing.
  • Ensuring they are working under the correct valid permits and the associated paper work is in place prior to work commencing.
  • Be actively involved in the onsite daily tool box talk confirm that he understands what the workscope involves and be aware if there any changes to the work or worksite.
  • Ensure all equipment has been fully safety checked, function test of plant equipment prior to use.
  • As a minimum do not start work until satisfied all of the above is in place.
  • If in doubt ask my Supervisor.

Skills, Understanding and Knowledge

Essential

  • Offshore experience leading RA team (three trip minimum)
  • Experience using portable anchors
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills
  • Motivated Team Member
  • Good Housekeeping Standards
  • Good Hazard Identification Skills
  • Good level of fitness

Core Training Requirements

  • BOSIET/FOET
  • MIST
  • Chartek
  • OPITO Level 2
  • Stork Core HSEQ Training
  • IRATA Rope Access Level 3
  • Experience on ropes within the last 6 months (evidence – IRATA log book)
  • Task Based Risk Assessment
  • Approved First Aid
  • Portable anchor awareness (eg – Iron Wing Awareness)

Mandatory

If Rope Access level 1 or 2 then must have:

  • IRATA Rope Access Level 1
  • Experience on ropes within the last 6 months (evidence – IRATA log book)

If Rope Access level 3 then must have:

  • Level 1 & 2 requirements
  • Task Based Risk Assessment
  • Approved First Aid
  • Portable anchor awareness (eg – Iron Wing Awareness)

Standards

  • Knowledge & understanding of Client and Stork procedures, Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Stork QP/OPS Procedures.
  • Quality, safety and environmental plans.
  • Knowledge that everyone has the authority to stop any actions that is likely to result in an accident or serious loss.
