Job description

To provide written and drawing electrical design, assembly and commissioning functions to the Cooperheat Equipment product line.
 
Working within the Electrical assembly area providing expert advice and guidance in regard to the provision of electrical drawings and schematics for both stock and specific ‘as built’ items.  Responsible for the raising of material requisitions for all electrical projects and the production of electrical method statements and risk assessments.  Compiles and maintains the organisations CE electrical documentation and oversees any related internal testing and evaluation.
 
This role entails significant technical communications with internal electrical assembly personnel, internal project management and engineering teams and with external client populations during the commissioning and training of bespoke finished products.

 Tasks And Responsibilities As Electrical Design Engineer:

Support the Production & Technical Integrity of High Value ‘as built’ Products

  • Production of materials, electrical drawings and schematics as required.
  • Responsible for testing and commissioning of instrument, control panel and electrical systems.
  • Produce electrical method statements and risk assessments.
  • Design and conduct client training on instruments & controls as required/requested.
  • Certify supplied product, as appropriate, to CE electrical documentation standard.
  • Produce Original Equipment Manufacturers manuals and spare parts lists.
  • Assist in the production of cost estimates.
     

 Support the Development of the Company Electrical Apprenticeship Programme

  • Acts as a mentor for the health and safety, and skills development aspects of the electrical apprenticeship group.
  • Assigns particular project tasks to the apprentice group that embed core learning skills with, as appropriate, college learning and portfolios.
  • Assists with college ‘day books’.

 
Supports Technical Requirements of Production & Sales

  • Provides guidance and technical authority on material requisition, labour requirement and control panel wiring schematics in order to assist bids for control systems.
  • Liaises with relevant Managers in regard to timescales for completion of work and projects.

Technical Documentation

  • Responsible for a range of regulatory documentation and certification.
  • Compiles and maintains Company CE electrical documentation.
  • Assists in the production of OEM manuals and product spare parts listings.
  • Provides client training and operational testing and commissioning manuals.

 
Remains Flexible to the Needs of the Business

  • Undertakes reasonable ad-hoc or routine duties as directed by line manager.

Skills
 
Education

  • Engineering based degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Relevant Electrical qualification e.g. City & Guilds Level 3 in a relevant electrical engineering discipline /17th Edition Wiring Regulations

Experience

  • Must be able to demonstrate strong, confident presentational skills.
  • Requires creativity and positive approach to overcome technical obstacles.
  • Ability to manage differing expectations/requirement from separate business functions.
  • Confident and competent in supporting estimating processes.
