UUW Lead Technologist – Portsmouth, UK – Competitive Salary

Navis’ leading client in the maritime and defence technologies market is looking for a lead technologist to take on an exciting permanent role in Portsmouth. This position is would suit an experienced under water weapons technologist who is SC cleared and is looking to take on a new challenge.

Duties include: Reporting to the Principal Technologist to provide technical expertise in the underwater domain, particularly in the sonar, signal processing and simulation areas to support early TRL studies.

To undertake research and collaboration in the underwater domain to develop or extend knowledge and expertise for the business and in pursuit of business opportunities in the Underwater Domain, with other BAE Systems businesses, partner Universities and other external partners.

To ensure that UWW technology solutions are identified and developed and these are communicated effectively to inform technology selection and future opportunity.

To influence, agree and capture engineering requirements for early TRL studies and developments with stakeholders and generate work estimates.

To ensure the maturity of developed solutions is appropriate to specified requirements and technical risks & opportunities are captured, documented and communicated.

To support evolving design solutions across the Underwater Domain with specialist support and advice within the programme and if required across the Engineering function.

To provide advice, guidance, coaching and technical support to other engineers and non-engineers within the UWW Domain.

To undertake design and peer review, define, issue and maintain subject matter process, specifications, standards and policy documents.

To act as an Ambassador for Engineering within the company as well as to external bodies.

The role is required to interface at the working level within the company and the UK customer organisations and provide leadership and guidance to the development of early TRL solutions.

Finally, the role includes leading short term teams of Engineers, plus other functions to bid and deliver early TRL studies and developments.
