Job Summary – 3rd Engineer – Cruise

Stands engine watch as instructed by Chief Engineer, responsible for combination of below duties:

• Bilge, Ballast and Heeling Systems, including related components (piping, pumps, valves, actuators, level transmitters, etc.)
• Grey Water System/ Black Water System
• Bulkhead Valves System
• Distillate water plants and related components, mineralizing systems
• Technical Water System including related components (piping, pumps, valves, actuators, level transmitters, etc;)
• Ocean Monitoring System (Sea Keepers) (where Applicable)
• Potable cold/hot water treatment
• Monthly E. Coli random test of four Fresh Water samples, as per CCL Policy, and related recordkeeping
• Chemical analysis of fresh water bunkering samples
• Responsible for vessel’s hotel and catering equipment

Responsibility

• Carry out the Engine watch with particular attention to:
  • Main Engines functions and operation
  • Auxiliary Engines functions and operation (Only CE Class)
  • Power generation function and operations
  • Operation of all M/E and A/E ancillary equipment (Only CE Class)
  • Operation of all M/E and P/G ancillary equipment (Only FA-SP-DE Class)
  • Purification system
  • Conditions of bilges and bilges tanks
  • Piping integrity
  • Carry out engine rounds and report to engineer in charge for de-briefing
  • Provide continuous supervision to systems in temporary operation
  • Ensure safety measures are implemented and functional
• Ensure that all machinery assigned are in working order and in compliance with Carry out Environmental, Health and Safety procedures, ensures maintenance is carried out at due intervals in accordance with planned maintenance and service requirements and all related logs and records are updated
• Compile Monthly Condition Report and update equipment technical cards of machinery assigned to him and his watch subordinate
• Report any abnormal condition of the machinery assigned
• Any additional assignment at discretion of Staff Chief Engineer or Chief Engineer

Education
IMO COC III/1 – ENGINE OFFICER OF WATCH
Valid training certificates as per STCW Regulation
