Marine Engineer

Marine Engineer – Permanent – Cornwall – £20,000 to £26,000pa + Overtime

A great opportunity to join an established maritime service provider in the UK has recently become available in Cornwall.
Looking to bring in an experienced Marine Engineer with proven ability in carrying out the following duties;

• Servicing marine engines and propulsion systems
• Installing mechanical and hydraulic systems
• To test and commission installations, ensuring equipment is operational and satisfactory to all requirements
• Work on all vessel types up to 400 tonnes including RIBS
• Complete all work to the highest standard

Key Experience

• Proficient in all mechanical aspects of boats / ships from 3m speedboats to 36m – 400 ton vessels.
• Have a knowledge of workshop machinery including lathe and milling machine.
• Have a knowledge of systems including, fresh water, domestic, salt water systems, e.g. engine cooling.
• Have a knowledge of Hydraulics, LP air systems
• Bilge systems & black/grey water systems
• Heating systems
• To be conversant with all aspects of diesel engines including fault finding, maintenance & servicing.
• Good knowledge of engine / gearbox installation including ancillaries and alignment of engine / gearbox to shafts.
• Be familiar with most propulsion and steering systems
• Knowledge of Electrical Installations would be an advantage
• Security vetting will be required
• Would be expected to work on MoD sites when required
• Driving licence essential
