THE COMMISSIONERS OF NORTHERN LIGHTHOUSES

require a

2nd OFFICER

For service onboard their two Aid to Navigation maintenance and support vessels on a fixed manning rota – 28 days duty followed by 28 days leave.

The Northern Lighthouse Board is the General Lighthouse Authority for Scotland and the Isle of Man, responsible through the Merchant shipping act 1995  for the provision and control of a network of marine aids to navigation – lights, buoys, Racon, AIS beacons and a precision GPS augmentation service.

Those with a valid MCA STCW ’95 Reg. II/2 Chief Officer Unlimited Certificate are preferred, but a lesser deck officer qualification with the relevant experience will also be considered. Good Seamanship and Navigation Skills are essential, together with a working knowledge of statute and regulations.   

Flexibility and a willingness to acquire new skills are essential, as are good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.

The successful candidate will require a valid unrestricted MCA Medical Certificate (ENG 1).

The current pay band for a 2nd Officer is £36,315 per year rising to £40,257 per year through dependent on skills and experience. Benefits package includes career average occupational pension scheme and occupational sick pay scheme.
