Northern Marine are currently seeking a Junior DPO for a short term contract with one of our Offshore clients.

Purpose of Role                                                     

The Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) is the Vessel nominated Navigational Officer.

The DPO acts as a navigational Watch Keeper when required.

The DPO assists the Chief Officer in the safe and efficient management of the Marine Deck Department.

Reporting Relationships                                        

The DPO reports directly to the Chief Officer, and when acting as DP Watch Keeper reports directly to the SDPO.

When maintaining a navigational watch reports directly to the Master.

Operational Roles and Responsibilities

The DPO has the following prime operational responsibilities:

  • Compliance with Master’s Standing and Daily Orders.
  • Compliance with the Company Integrated Management System including reporting as necessary.
  • Has the authority and responsibility to take appropriate actions to ensure the safety of life, property and preservation of the environment without the presence of the Master.
  • Watch Keeper responsible for safe navigation of the Vessel when on conventionalwatches.
  • DP Operator when operating in DP ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
  • Preparation of passage plan and upkeep of all nautical publications and charts.
  • Operational readiness of all navigational and electronic navigationalaids.
  • Operation of the Vessel and all equipmentin accordance with Company procedures, safe limits and any contract specificterms.
  • Responsible for operational stability and ballasting.
  • May act as Responsible Person and Isolating Authority under Permit to Worksystem.
  • Assists with control and disposal of waste in accordance with the Vessel Garbage ManagementPlan.
  • Completion and recording of maintenance carried out in accordance with the Planned Maintenance System as directed by the Chief Officer.
  • In Port supervises watch keeping arrangements and provision of safe means ofaccess.
  • Assists in managing the crew and equipment for anchor handling operations and mooring operations entering and leavingport.

 

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications

Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
