Eastern Marine Area: Lowestoft, Beverley, Harwich.
South Eastern: Hastings, Shoreham, Portsmouth, Poole.

The Marine Management Organisation (MMO) is a non-departmental public body which is responsible for licensing and regulating marine activities. In this team, you will play an essential part in supporting the fishing industries as you take on an absorbing and challenging role that will take you from your desk to ports, harbours and out to sea. You will:

• ensure compliance with the relevant marine, environmental and sea fisheries policies and legislation; taking advantage of a broad array of training opportunities to develop your understanding of these areas;
• join the fisheries patrol vessel to conduct physical inspections at sea. You will also work on land to monitor fish landings, check catches, and inspect logbooks, landing declarations and transport documents;
• conduct investigations and interviews where non-compliance is suspected, compiling any resulting case files and attending court as required;
• offer your expert opinion and advice to those in the fishing and marine industries; including commenting on marine licence applications and inspecting related coastal sites;
• enforce marine nature conservation legislation, including that which relates to protected areas.
