Shore-based Assistant Hotel Engineer for Large New Build in Europe - HOTM

The Assistant Hotel Engineer’s main function is looking after the technical aspects of the yachts’ crew and guest interior which includes: sanitary water production and distribution, waste water treatment, pools and jacuzzis, plumbing, galley and laundry appliances, air conditioning and ventilation, doors and locks, fire dampers, gym equipment, and other interior items.
Working under the management of the 4th Engine Officer in charge of the yacht interior and in close cooperation with the Carpenter and the ETO.
You will be expected to maintain the maximum expected level of comfort for crew and guests. Anticipating need for spare parts, consumables and tools and preparing orders with the 4th Engine Officer. Checking the interior before and after guests’ attendance according to established check lists. Creating a digital database recording the position and method of access to all technical items in accommodation during the shipyard building phase.

The successful candidate will have the following certificates, qualifications and experience:

  • STCW III/4 Engine Room Rating Watch Keeping Certificate
  • Valid passport (mandatory)
  • Valid ENG1 (mandatory, valid 6 months)
  • Valid STCW (mandatory)
  • Valid SDB (mandatory)
  • Passenger safety certificate (Crisis and Crowd Management) (mandatory)
  • Security awareness or designated security duties certificate (mandatory)
  • STCW III/4 Ratings forming part of an Engineering Watch (mandatory)
  • Vaccination card with Yellow Fever and Hep B vaccines (mandatory)
  • 3 written references (mandatory)

Experience on passenger ships or yachts in Hotel Services

  • General knowledge of Engine Room systems
  • Understanding of delicate materials such as marbles, wooden veneers, carpet, leather, etc.…
  • Working in a very tidy and clean way
  • Good presentation and behavior in front of guests
  • Keeping excellent records of his work
  • Qualified for engine room watch rating
  • Experience with tenders advantageous
  • Basic computer and use of mobile devices (tablets) skills are essential
  • Fluent English
  • International Passport (valid min 6 months)
  • Seafarer discharge book
  • Seafarer medical (valid min 6 months)
  • STCW Basic safety training
  • Security awareness certificate

Land based contract (until expected launch Jan 2019 than to switch to Seagoing contract on full rotation)
Salary: 4.200 Euro per month
Leave: 30 paid leave days per year based on 5-day work week
Flights: 2 return economy flights per year
Accommodation: Shared furnished apartment provided based in Bremen
