This U.K. MCA Approved course is a combination of classroom theory sessions and practical boat operation. The course aims to provide training the candidate to be competent to handle and take charge of a fast rescue boat in search and rescue operations during or after launch in adverse weather and sea conditions.

The course is in compliance with Regulation VI/2, paragraph 2 and Section A-VI/2, paragraphs 7 to 10 of the STCW Convention and Code 1978, as amended.

On completion of the course, the trainees will be competent to prevent and manage a capsized rescue boat, recover a casualty from the water and transfer to a rescue helicopter, a ship or place of safety, and understand the construction, maintenance, repair and outfitting of fast rescue boats.

Galileo Maritime Academy is directly accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) of the Department of Transport of the United Kingdom to issue MCA Approved Certificates.

Entry Requirements

ENG 1 medical certificate or acceptable alternative.
Note. ENG 1 is not available in Thailand. We are able to provide details of where to obtain a Norwegian Seafarers Medical in Bangkok, which is an acceptable equivalent.
