This course deals with the necessary precautions to minimise the risk of fires aboard ship. It examines how fires are caused and the proper means of extinguishing them. The course includes practical training in the use of fire-fighting equipment and the use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) for fire fighting and rescue. The practical live fire fighting training takes place in the Galileo fire training facility and in our IMO/MNTB model fire ship.
Galileo Maritime Academy is directly accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) of the Department of Transport of the United Kingdom to issue MCA Approved Certificates.
We normally offer this course as a part our U.K. MCA Approved STCW Basic Training Package and the dates shown are for commencement of that 5 day package.

Candidates must have a valid ENG 1, or an equivalent.
Note. ENG 1 is not available in Thailand. We are able to provide details of where to obtain a Norwegian Seafarers Medical in Bangkok, which is an acceptable equivalent.
