Overview

We are proud to deliver the High Voltage (Management) training at our state of the art training facility, equipped with the latest marine grade high voltage (HV) switchgear and shipboard HV simulation software package. Our competency training programme is delivered in a setting that mimics shipboard HV switchboards, supported by purpose built marine HV software and online learning platform. Training is delivered by experienced engineers, both in classroom setting and in a practical hands-on environment.

The 2010 Manila amendments to the STCW Code bring in the requirement for engineers to undergo education and training in high voltage systems, at both the operational (III/I) and management (III/2 and III/3) levels. This requirement comes into force on January 1st 2017, but effects the revalidation of engineering Certificates of Competency (CoC) from January 1st 2012.

If you have not completed High Voltage Training, Certificates of Competencies (CoC) after January 1st 2012 will be issued with the following restriction:

From January 1st 2017, this certificate is not valid for service on ships fitted with high voltage (over 1000V) systems.

Completion of High Voltage training will remove this limitation, and you will be able to serve on ships with High Voltage Systems.

Entry requirements

Minimum entry requirements

Prior electrical, or electro-technical experience in a shipboard environment; OR
Have completed 12 months sea time as EOOW; OR
Undertaking the course as part of an initial electro-technical training programme.
