D18 - Certificate in Proficiency in Fast Rescue Boats

Fast rescue boat course has been designed to meet the requirements of STCW section VI/2-2 and is based on the guidelines of IMO Model Course 1.24. Course is open to all seafarers who are designated to take charge of a fast rescue boat.

Content:

• Introduction and safety
• Constructions and outfit of fast rescue boats and individual items of their equipment
• Particular characteristics and facilities of fast rescue boats
• Navigation and safety equipment available in fast rescue boat
• Safety precautions during lunch and recovering of a fast rescue boat
• How to handle a fast rescue boat in prevailing and adverse weather and sea conditions
• Procedures for righting a capsized fast rescue boat
• Search patterns and environmental factors affecting their execution
• Assessment of readiness of fast rescue boats and related equipment for immediate use
• Knowledge of the maintenance, emergency repairs, normal inflation and deflation of buoyancy compartments of inflated fast rescue boats
• Methods of starting and operating a fast rescue boat engine and its accessories

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of participation, and after successfully passing the exam at the Harbor Master's Office, the participant will receive a Certificate of Competence
