Description

Any applicant who has successfully completed our Search & Rescue (MIDATL-445) course will satisfy the Search and Rescue training requirements of 46 CFR 11.305(a)(3)(v) and 11.307(a)(3)(v) for STCW, as amended 2010 endorsements as Chief Mate or Master on vessels of 3,000 GT or more and 46 CFR 11.311(a)(3)(v); 11.313(a)(3)(v) for STCW, as amended 2010 endorsements as Chief Mate or Master on vessels of more than 500 GT and less than 3,000 GT; AND, will be considered to have successfully completed specific tasks of the National Assessment Guidelines found in NVICs 10-14 and 11-14 Tasks 4.1.A and 4.1.B. Applicants are not required to present their completed Record of Assessment sheets.

The objective of the course is to provide students with theory and training in Search & Rescue and in doing so will satisfy company, national and international regulations as stated in the Manila Amendments to the Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping (1978) as amended in Table A-II/2 Specification of minimum standard of competence for masters and chief mates on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more and Section A-II/2 Mandatory minimum requirements for certification of masters and chief mates on ships of 500 gross tonnage or more for competence in knowledge of the following:

Competence:
Coordinate search and rescue operations.

Knowledge, understanding and proficiency:
A thorough knowledge of and ability to apply the procedures contained in the International Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue (IAMSAR) Manual
