This training focuses on assisting passengers during an emergency, how to deal with leading large crowds to safety and discusses human behaviour in an emergency. Passenger ship crowd management training including Safety training for personnel providing direct service to passengers in passenger spaces is required for masters, officers, qualified ratings or any other personnel who are designated on muster lists to assist passengers in emergency situations on passenger ships.

Learning objective Passenger ship crowd management training:

  • Control crowd in an emergency situation on board
  • Locate essential safety and emergency equipment on board
  • Communicate effectively with passengers during an emergency
  • Demonstrate the use of personal life-saving appliances
  • Comply with the ship’s safety and emergency procedures

At the end of this course, candidates will be able to:

  • Understand life-saving appliances and control plans onboard
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist passengers en route to muster and embarkation stations
  • Understand mustering procedures
  • Communicate with passengers during an emergency
  • Demonstrate to passengers the use of personal life-saving appliances
  • Help embarking and disembarking passengers with special attention to disabled persons and persons needing assistance.
