Continuous monitoring of candidate performance and procedural understanding throughout the Course with a final competence check conducted by an end of course written assessment
The candidates are provided with an opportunity to implement engine room procedures learnt in the classroom, thus providing them with an opportunity to gain confidence in engine room watch keeping and team work by use of simulators.
MCA to STCW Table A - III/1
The course is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of engine room resource management by utilising leadership team building exercises for engineer officers to polish their knowledge of leadership, situational awareness, decision making through use of appropriate managerial and team working skills.
The course can be tailored to company requirements to suit their needs and to include the following STCW Code Table A-III/1 topics:
- Allocation, assignment, and prioritization of resources;
- Effective communication;
- Assertiveness and leadership;
- Obtaining and maintaining situational awareness;
- Consideration of team experience.
The course can best be delivered for a team of junior and senior engineer officers and can accommodate up to four officers but requires a minimum of three to make the exercise viable.
