The 1-day U.K. MCA Approved Proficiency in Designated Security Duties (PDSD) Course has been designed for all seafarers and all security personnel engaged on vessels where that seafarer has a designated security duty and it is mandatory for an armed security or an unarmed security team member to be part of a Maritime Security Team.

The course gives participants an in-depth understanding of the background of the international maritime security framework and its various security responsibilities and comprehensive information on the ship maritime security levels 1 to 3. The course incorporates with the Proficiency in Security Awareness of the STCW Convention and Code and also includes Anti-Piracy Awareness Training.

Galileo Maritime Academy is directly accredited by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) of the Department of Transport of the United Kingdom to issue MCA Approved Certificates.
