This training is intended for seafarers who are the nominated member of crew to provide medical first aid on board ship, in accordance with Regulation VI/4 of the Annex to the STCW Convention and Section A-VI/4 (1 – 3) of the STCW Code.
This course INVOLVES both practical and theory training:
- Examination of a casualty
- Spinal injuries
- Burns and scalds
- The effects of heat and cold
- Fractures, dislocation and muscular injuries
- Radio medical advice
- Pharmacology
- Cardiac arrest, drowning and asphyxia
Entry Requirements:
Candidates must be over 18 and should have completed an Elementary First Aid or have relevant medical training within the preceding 5 years.
