SALES & EVENTS MANAGER

Location: London

Reports To: Company Secretary

Experience required:  Educated to degree level in event/ sales/ marketing management or equivalent. Previous sales and marketing experience.

Hours: 9am to 5.30pm Monday – Friday with occasional Saturdays

Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum dependent on experience

Relocation package: None

The successful candidate would be required to start early / mid October 2017.

All candidates must have the right to work in the UK and hold a British / EU passport or unrestricted work visa.

Main role

As Sales and Events Manager, you will primarily oversee all areas of the department and managing a small team of four.  Reporting directly to the Company Secretary, you will be part of the senior management team and have input into the annual business planning, including marketing strategy and budgets. You will be responsible for maximising the sales and profitability of events, private dining, weddings and corporate events, through effective yield and diary management.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that the event co-ordinators and administrator are highly motivated, with a clear sense of purpose and direction.
  • Supervise training & development of the Sales team.
  • Win, organize and execute key company events to the highest standards. Creatively exceed client expectations to drive business and venue relationships within our client portfolio.
  • Work efficiently with “Dish” (in-house catering company) to identify key growth areas of development for the core business.
  • Sales focused, with an ability to build a natural rapport with clients to create future opportunities for the company and meet all sales KPI’s.
  • Be proactive in your approach to following up on inquiries / opportunities and communicate transparently and efficiently the requirements of business to the operational teams.
  • Industry savvy with an awareness of competitors’ facilities, prices, and special promotions

Additional duties to include but not limited to:

  • Assist with credit control /debtor, raise client sales invoices and credit notes.
  • Chair weekly operations meetings & produce minutes in a timely fashion
  • Work towards team targets as agreed
  • Attend client viewings/tastings/ promotional events
  • Book services regarding events/functions
  • Maintain the event diary
  • Raise function sheets                                         

Knowledge / Understanding / Experience

  • Excellent understanding catering and or hospitality industry
  • Proven track record in sales and events
  • Experiences in marketing 
  • Proven track record in managing and motivating a team in sale environment.
  • Able to deliver an exceptional service and communicate well using clear and defined processes whilst remaining flexible
  • Flexible approach to activities and hours of work
  • Proactive self-starter who has an organised approach
  • Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with colleagues and external organisations
  • Have a “can do attitude” 
  • Positive role model within TLC
  • Attention to detail at all times
  • Experience in working on boats (Desirable)

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications

Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
