This is an exciting new opportunity to join a reputable ship owner. The role can be based in either Liverpool or Hessle.

The Crewing Manager is responsible for the effective management of all crewing activities for the company's fleet, ensuring that vessels are manned with qualified, competent, and compliant seafarers in accordance with company policies, international maritime regulations, flag state requirements, and client expectations. The role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective deployment of personnel while maintaining high standards of crew welfare, retention, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and coach the Crew Coordinators
  • Coordinate and monitor the setting up and maintaining of a short and long term crew planning, to ensure effective and efficient operations and optimal use of available crew
  • Ensure planning and changes are clearly communicated to the fleet and involved personnel
  • Ensure transport and accommodation are arranged if and when required
  • Coordinate recruitment of vessel personnel
  • Ensure new personnel receives the required safety induction when embarking for the first time
  • Ensure required documents (seaman’s book, medical, training) are up to date and arrange renewal if and when required
  • Organise training, courses and education for crew
  • Organise captain’s meetings and coordinate succession planning
  • Liaise with and support the HR and Operations departments
  • Maintain good relationships with the works council and participate in negotiations (e.g. about yearly schedules)
  • Manage and update the personnel database and ensure data (mutations, illness, timesheets etc.) is processed correctly and in time

Requirements

  • Previous experience in crew management within a ship-owning, ship management, or maritime services company.
  • Strong knowledge of STCW, MLC 2006, ISM Code, and maritime employment regulations.
  • Experience managing multinational crews across multiple vessel types.
  • Proficiency in crewing management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Must have the right to work in the UK to be considered.

This is an office based role so you must live in commutable distance to either Liverpool or Hessle or be prepared to relocate.
