Shore End Cable Installation & Burial Engineer – London

A large telecommunication company in London is expanding the team and looking for a Shore End Cable Installation & Burial Engineer/On-Site Representative to join the team. You will be part of a dedicated team to manage the installation of telecommunications cable shore end activities worldwide. This role will involve office duties in London and global site duties.

Office Duties:

• Supporting the team expansion of in-house shore end installation solutions
• Directing the design, build and implementation of in-house cable burial solutions
• Working with the inhouse survey teams to review burial assessment surveys (BAS) on shallow water cable installations
• Technical evaluation of subcontractors Method of Procedures, Plan of Works, Dive Plans (with the support of the company’s Diving Superintendent), Health, Safety & Environment plans and associated operational documentation to ensure alignment with requirements and lessons learnt
• Technical/Project Management support to the Project implementation and After Sales teams, including Site Rep briefings and follow up on management of change requests and incident reporting

Site and duties (involving worldwide travel):

• Supporting the site implementation of in-house shore end installation & shallow water burial solutions
• Reviewing subcontractors proposed burial solutions and conducting relevant equipment operational reviews and audits
• Assisting with cable landing point site surveys to access suitability and to identify cost effective installation/burial solutions
• Reviewing dive/burial video surveys of installation sites, pre-and post-shore end installation activities
• On site supervision of appointed subcontractors ensuring compliance with scope of work, HSE requirements and Dive policy’s, including interface with the client representatives, and approval and sign off upon completion of activities
• Assisting with the development & Planned Maintenance Programs of in-house shore end equipment

Requirements:

• Cable burial experience having been involved with offshore cable burial previously – ROV’s, jetting sledges, water jetting/controlled flow excavators and is keen to put designs into practice from concept, new build & test, to project field deployment.
• Ideally have an electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering background with experience in the marine installation arena, preferably within the submarine cable industry
• Lifting and rigging experience/certification would be an advantage for this position
• Computer literate – ideally with Windows/Microsoft office packages.
• Experience with engineering drawing packages, such as AutoCAD or Visio would be advantageous
