Fire & Safety Specialist (Classification Society) – Permanent - Southampton, UK – Competitive
A leading Classification Society is currently recruiting for a Fire & Safety Specialist to join the specialist section in the Southampton office.
Reporting to the Team Leader, key responsibilities will include;
- Design appraisal of ships and yachts arrangements to various statutory codes and rules in a consistent and timely manner.
- Conducting occasionally site visits at various ship yards and client sites as required to successfully complete projects.
- Contributing fire and safety expertise to risk-based project teams to ensure project outcomes are met.
- Actively seeking to ensure client satisfaction and to generate new opportunities with our clients.
- Assistance and coordination of new rules and regulations relating to fire and safety and various other statutory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of Fire Protection and fire engineering techniques, demonstrable experience in the marine design of yachts and ships and broad knowledge of SOLAS, other international regulations and yacht statutory codes.
You will also have In depth knowledge of Marine fire and Safety legislation and of the application of fire and safety regulations to a wide variety of ship types.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, including technical report writing, have the ability to adapt and work to tight deadlines.

Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on ships.
Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
Certificates and Qualifications
Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
