Purchasing Officer (Marine) – Permanent – London – £26k plus benefits

The role of Purchasing Officer is to ensure that the vessels, office and other site areas such as workshops are supplied with authorised stores, spares and other products in a timely manner and approved costs consistent with Company Quality and Purchasing Department policies at the most competitive costs.

Responsibilities include:

  • The input of vessel and office requisitions to the company system, where necessary, clarifying any additional information as required in a timely and reliable manner.
  • Select suppliers from approved supplier lists, issue enquiries and orders, using company SLA’s/contracts where applicable.
  • Prioritising urgent orders
  • Liaise with technical department on purchasing matters.
  • Co-ordinate delivery of spares and stores in conjunction with technical department and advise of any known problems.
  • Advise technical department of spares shipments details.
  • Manage the progress and delivery of orders, resolve any discrepancies as advised by technical department with
  • Ensure the competitiveness of purchasing functions.
  • Co-ordinate the most cost-effective freight and delivery of supplies.
  • Control the issuing of Purchase Orders for staff and other sundry items or equipment.

Experience Required:

  • Previous purchasing experience in the marine industry
  • Ability to administer purchasing & budget requirements
  • Proficient use in SAGE
  • Ability to communicate & coordinate spares delivery
  • Strong IT & computer skills
  • Valid UK driving licence

You must have the right to live and work in the UK and live in commutable distance to London
