Project Manager (New-build) – Permanent – Shanghai / Singapore – €45,000-€55,000

An opportunity has arisen for a Project Manager to join a busy shipbuilding team with global presence based in either Shanghai or Singapore.

Overall purpose of the job:

  • To undertake the role of Project Manager, ensuring that projects are managed in accordance with the quality management system, group policies and marine industry standards.
  • To plan, supervise, manage, and perform tasks such as: feasibility studies, design studies, detail design, plan approval work, site supervision, ship condition surveys, damage investigations, specification writing, cost estimating.
  • To support the Technical Director in the development of technical and project management capability (people, processes and tools) within the company.

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Manager will have responsibility for the delivery of designated projects from start-up through to acceptance.

  • Preparation of proposals and project budgets
  • Preparation of project and quality plans ensuring that records of all work are kept in a systematic and traceable manner in accordance with company procedures.
  • Monitoring the technical and financial performance of projects.
  • Preparation of monthly project progress reports in accordance with company requirements.
  • Acting as an acknowledged expert in a field within the Consultancy Group, providing services to both internal and external clients. Providing expert advice on the management of repair and conversion contracts and the design, specification, plan approval and supervision of new constructions.
  • Assisting the Project Director with Staff performance and development reviews and acting as a mentor for more junior staff.

The successful candidate shall expect to spend a few weeks in China / Singapore (and some days in Europe) to familiarize with the on-going project and travel on regular basis to the shipbuilding yard. There will also be regular travel to Europe. The Project Manager shall manage the NB design Plan Approval, support the client with technical consultancy and coordinate the site team. Among other tasks the PM shall monitor the technical and financial performance of the project.
