The role of Trainee Recruitment Consultant is a key position within a fast-paced division in CMR. As Trainee Recruitment Consultant, you will be responsible for ensuring all recruitment administration is processed in an accurate and timely fashion whilst offering ongoing support and receiving training from your colleagues within the recruitment team to advance your professional development within the Company. A commitment to ongoing personal development and training is essential.

With adequate training within the role will enable you to:

  • Recruit one-off placements and temporary crew for various ranks
  • Proactively source candidates to fill job vacancies
  • Advertise all vacancies through the Company website and Company social media pages
  • Frequent liaison with clients and candidates to ensure the best possible service is given
  • Verification of seafarer qualifications and certification, ensuring authenticity and validity
  • Ensure joining documentation including payroll forms and SEA’s are completed in a timely manner
  • Answer client and candidate enquiries in an efficient and professional manner
  • Assist with crew management contracts and recruitment drives as required
  • Oversee the processing of application forms
  • Vetting of recruits and applications
  • Update and maintain accurate personnel files
  • Perform reference checks on marine personnel

Other duties will include:

  • Provide administrative support to colleagues, such as filling documents and electronic files accurately and efficiently
  • Answer telephone enquiries in an efficient and professional manner
  • Assist colleagues with recruitment placements as required
  • Take an active role in sourcing candidates
  • Assist with travel bookings as required
  • Assist Recruitment Consultants with payroll preparation
  • Assistance and back up of Temp and Crew Managed Payrolls

Additional Requirements:

  • There may be some travel throughout the UK to meet clients and visit other office sites is essential
  • There will be an on-call requirement, working to a department rota system
  • Covering at another site may occasionally be required by agreement

Personal Specification:

A successful candidate must be eligible to work in the UK, will be professional, approachable with the ability to deal with confidential situations and information in a diplomatic and reasonable way. They will be able to demonstrate, effective interpersonal and team working skills; an organised approach and have the ability to be flexible when the need arises.

Experience Required

• Experience working within a recruitment or shipping industry advantageous
• Administration knowledge essential
• Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.

Certificates and Qualifications

Mandatory STCW certificates are required from all applicants.
